Word: Consistency

Reading and overall Literacy is one of societies greatest push towards the advancement of knowledge we have today starting with woodblock printing (9th century) in East Asia and furthered with the Printing Press (1436.) These inventions sparked periods of innovation like never before but required a strong learning curve. This is where the word consistency enters and it's effect on overall literacy is profound. At one time it is likely that someone close to us read a variety books to us as children, sometimes even multiple times. This is was the start of our literate journey listening to the vowels, grammar, sentence structure and often associating works to images on the pages. The repetition and consistency of reading over and over throughout childhood up to the rest of your life provides more and more each time we pick up words on a page. With a level of subconscious and conscious soaking of information  that is astounding from verbal queues, emotional gauge of characters, grammar (i.e. punctuation ,structure, flow.) The reason why secondary schooling pushes reading so hard is because there is no reading that is not food for your brain. Take comprehension for example, the first time you read something you may be confused or lack important details due to missing it. However the second time or even the next time you will gain more and more skills on how to asses a text your reading. The key to all of this though is consistency, when you stop you lose some advantages you gain by continually challenging your brain.  Therefore it is my intention to keep my word in the brain by being consistent both in school and life in general to challenge my brain to learn and soak more therefore learning more overall.
